Greengage Cottage is a sympathetically restored 14th century thatched Devon Longhouse with medieval origins, preserving its character to create a luxury self catering holiday cottage.
Greengage Cottage is one of the few thatched holiday cottages in the UK that is dog friendly.
The mulberry painted front door with ancient wrought iron hinges leads into a tiled entrance hall with ample space for coats, hats and Wellie boots. The hall connects the two wings of the cottage. The original art and textiles are mostly by local East Devon Artists including Alana, the owner. Greengage Cottage is a fine example of the country cottage style that inspired Laura Ashley.
There are two huge living rooms, the largest lounge on the upper floor has exposed oak roof trusses; a wooden floor and a feature window looking over the beautiful countryside in East Devon. An ideal room for conversation and relaxation.
The other living space is the hub of the cottage, on the ground floor it has a huge inglenook with a wood burning stove and ancient bread oven. This room has a large dining table and a pair of comfy sofas to lounge on in front of the fire. In the corner is a desk for your laptop and a broadband internet connection. The living spaces on the ground floor are tiled in a warm terracotta shade, making Greengage Cottage a truly dog friendly holiday cottage.
The kitchen with a full size electric oven and hob, fridge/freezer and is fully equipped with good quality crockery and cooking utensils.
